Why Solid Tires?

Before we learn why solid tires are important for our skid steers, we need to understand, what are solid tires….

Solid tires are tires with no air, no foam, only solid rubber all the way through. Solid tires are 100% puncture and flat proof tires. These tires have resistance to cutting, chipping, and chunking. Solid rubber tires work well even in severe abusive environments on heavy loaded, slow moving industrial equipment where pneumatic and foam filled tires fail completely.

Why solid tires?

Traditional pneumatic and foam filled tires cannot survive harsh environments like junk yards, recycling plants, glass units etc. They puncture, tear and burst leaving us with incomplete work, added downtime costs and repair expenses. This is where solid tires come to rescue. Here are a few advantages of solid tires over pneumatic and foam filled tires.

  •  Zero Tire Maintenance: No punctures and elimination of periodic tire pressure checks.
  •  Lower Operating Costs: Direct Puncture Costs & puncture-related costs such as machine downtime, operator idle time and operational delays are automatically eliminated. While Semi-Solid Tires cost about 3 times the price of pneumatic tyres, it is important to note that they are puncture-proof and their life is four to five times that of pneumatic tires thus offer a lower CPH.
  •  User & Equipment Safety: Solid Tires significantly improve occupational safety as there is no possibility of tire blowout related accidents
  • Maintenance of Operational Tempo: The elimination of punctures allows sustained, continuous use of the equipment in any operating environment. Eliminates delays or stoppages
  • Damage Resistance & All-Terrain Utility: Abrasion & cuts do not affect structural properties and stability of the tire, thus offering a high degree of failure-resistance in severe service conditions
  • Stability: The added weight augments balance & ballast properties. This provides stability when negotiating gradients and uneven terrains
  • Ease of Installation: Solid Tires are supplied as ready to fit Tire & Wheel Assembles. No special mounting equipment is required and the entire assembly can be hand mounted in a few minutes.
  • Inventory Management: Fewer replacements mean that costs associated with re-purchase, downtime, inventory and repair are significantly reduced.

Tires at Solid Tires and Tracks

Tires at Solid Tires and Tracks are designed and engineered to eliminate all of the drawbacks seen in pneumatic and foam filled tires, making your equipment more productive and additionally; save your money, time and energy. With six different patterns and sizes available to meet your individual requirements and needs.

Costs: Initial costs of solid tires are higher than pneumatic and foam filled tires but as they have 5 times greater service life than pneumatic tires, along with no downtime, the per hour costs are way lower than pneumatic tires.
